Horticulture forward landscaping

We start all of our projects from the soil up with proper soil amendment. By using top quality organic mushroom compost, composted wood bark and humic acid we give your landscape the building blocks to produce happy long-lived plants. We use natives, FL-friendly and pollinator plants in all of our designs to encourage a diverse, ecologically friendly and healthy landscape. With this investment you will receive a project vision, plant list and photos, as well as installation of the project! Additional education, support and communication throughout the entire process is standard for Bluebird Growers. Each design is custom tailored for your budget and your landscape’s unique needs.

Pollinator Gardens

Bluebird’s signature pollinator garden is an affordable and beautiful way to add in Florida friendly colorful perennials that are sure to bring an abundance of butterflies, hummingbirds, bumblebees and other pollinators to your outdoor space. With a diverse pallet of both nectar and host plants, this humble garden will establish a community of native pollinators while filling your yard with beautiful flowers! We start each garden by incorporating premium amendments into your soil to supercharge growth and improve soil health. We will then fill the space with 30 or more locally grown, unique perennials specifically chosen to fill your space with a variety of beautiful flowers and foliage. The last step is adding a thick layer of small mini pine bark nuggets to help keep the moisture in and weeds out.

Perennial peanut sod

Perennial peanut is a ground cover used as a turf replacement. There is a whole lot to love about this amazing low maintenance, wildlife friendly, creeping plant. A species in the same genus as the peanuts we eat, this South American native thrives in crumby soils and out competes weeds through its ability to sequester nitrogen from the atmosphere like most members of the legume family. It was brought to Florida through the University of Florida as an animal forage crop but quickly gained popularity as an erosion control ground cover. Since then breeding has created several varieties that look beautiful as a “conventional” turf in yards and boulevards throughout the state. In fact, several new varieties even sport narrow leaves that closely resemble St. Augustine grass. Perennial peanut requires little to no mowing, little fertilization, is resistant to nearly all pests and diseases, requires less water than standard grass and outcompetes most weeds. It blooms beautiful golden yellow flowers you can eat, put on your salad and they taste like fresh peas. Perennial peanut is our newest service offering and can be booked ala’ carte or with our design and install service. It’s available to install as large rolls of sod or small plugs (a bit more of an affordable option) making it easy to install anywhere you get full to part sun. When installed it roots, thickens and spreads. We just love it and can’t wait to use it anywhere we can!

Raised Garden Beds

Interested in growing your own food, cut flowers or herbs? We offer custom raised garden beds (in a variety of materials like cedar, stone and cor-ten steel) which can be incorporated into our designs. Each raised bed is filled with a custom blended growing mix tailored. Our raised beds fit seamlessly into existing landscapes and offer a beautiful and useful element to increase the personal value of your yard.

Garden maintenance

Sometimes all you need is a little guidance in the right direction with your current landscaping! (This is also a superb service to add on after your landscaping project with us!) With maintenance services we tidy beds up, prune, cut big trees back, monitor old and new plants, apply organic fertilizer, top off beds with mulch and treat pesticides as needed. Services as needed or bi-monthly. Price varies depending on the scale of your space!

Monthly lawn care

If you are interested in eco-conscious monthly lawn care service (mow/blow/edge) call our friend Tyler McKee directly at 904-554-8347. We use him for our own personal outdoor space and highly recommend his services. Tell him we sent you!
