Meet Nick, Alex, Henry, Clementine and Marigold

Born and raised in Wisconsin this midwest farm-boy loved getting his hands dirty while running around the Ice Age National Wilderness trails. Whether it was foraging wild blackberries for a future provision, hunting for morel mushrooms or scraping together pieces of wood to make functional oddities Nick has always found a passion and interest in the natural world. Organically this led to a degree in horticulture. Nick graduated from The University of Wisconsin in 2008 and learned, through a lot of hard work and experience, how to thrive in both horticulture and business. Nick is our head horticulturist, lead designer and project manager. He does all of Bluebird’s installations alongside a crew of eager, enthusiastic and hardworking budding gardeners, and is elated to spread the good news on eco friendly landscaping!

A Gainesville, Florida Native Alex found herself in the Bold South to attend Jacksonville University in 2007! With a communication degree and a focus in marketing (and a minor in fine art photography) Alex was lucky enough to travel the world photographing hundreds of professional photography events from weddings to families (and beyond) for well over a decade. In her recent years she has traded in her passport for more local photography projects, focusing on using film as her medium, and enjoys photographing Bluebird’s gardens and landscapes on film. At the root of her creativity and enthusiasm hospitality lies! Alex is Bluebird’s friendly face. She is our photographer, marketing professional, social media handler, website slayer, and all around client relations guru! She ensures all of our clients are heard, cared for and well taken care of from their very first email to the final day of installation and beyond.

Alongside these two outlier rascals are three amazing Bluebird kids: Henry, Clementine and Marigold. Henry’s 11 years old and loves reading, history, and being the person everyone loves to be around. Clementine is 6 years old and is a perfect blend of her dynamic parents: this little gal loves nature, learning about animals, mushroom and fossil foraging, creating art and socializing. At the caboose of the Bluebird fam is their newest little edition Marigold. And as her namesake implies she is surely shaping up to being quite like the flower, a bit spicy and sharply sweet. Marigold is 9 months old and loves being outside, smiling huge gummy smiles and eating lots and lots of tomatoes.

It is not lost on Nick and Alex that they could do what they do without one another’s partnership or their children’s patience, flexibility, love and understanding! Living with parents as entrepreneurs has its set of unique challenges but despite it all Nick and Alex hope they are leading their family. They hope their projects inspires a love and respect for the natural world around them.
